So Much Pretty

I love interior design - not in the traditional sense, but in the endlessly creative ways people express their interests and personalities.  If I had the time and resources I would be changing my decor every year - there is too much to love!  I also wish I could raise my ceilings a few feet but that is neither here nor there! :)  In any case, I need a dose of pretty and these random rooms are the answer.

We are in the market to buy more (I know, more) bookshelves and I cannot decide what color wood would look best in the room - these white shelves are calling my name at the moment!  The room they're going in has dark wood floors and a painted, white, floor-to-ceiling, brick fireplace.  Too much white?  The only other 'must' for the room is a black and white, round, chevron printed rug (love) and a loveseat in an undecided color/fabric.  What do you think?  I can't decide!

[Sorry, I cannot remember where I found these images - it was quite some time ago!]

Happy Friday!

PS - J and I saw Kevin James and Ray Romano last night and I am still laughing!

Lovely Libraries

I absolutely love libraries and these pictures of libraries from around the world have me wishing I could grab a good book, find a quiet spot, and read all day!

From the top:  Moldova National Library, Suzzalo Library at the University of Washington (Seattle), State Library in Victoria, Australia, and below the stunning Real Gabinete Portugu's de Leitura in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

I haven't visited any of these treasures but there are some local favorites of mine:  McKinley and Ella K. McClatchy braches.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Pomegranates

A few months ago I read the book Traveling With Pomegranates by Sue Monk Kidd and Ann Kidd Taylor.  It's a wonderful mother-daughter story documenting their relationship and their travels to Greece.  I found the snippets about the significance of pomegranates especially intriguing.  James and I are lucky enough to have a pomegranate tree in our backyard and I recently picked one to enjoy!

[PS - I am LOVING our new camera!]

Book Lovers' Day!

I just found out today is Book Lovers' Day!  Whole Living's "Daily Challenge" is to re-read a favorite book.  I accept this challenge!  In honor of the new Harry Potter movie coming out this November (yeah, I'm a HP nerd!), I am going to re-read the entire series (I love my British editions)!  This won't be the first Harry Potter post...!

I'd also like to take a moment to highlight one of my favorite websites dedicated to reading:  Goodreads!  I love keeping lists and I love reading - and this site combines the two!  Check it out for awesome recommendations and see what your friends are reading!
