Stress-Free

I always enjoy receiving helpful, inspiring emails from Whole Living (my favorite magazine).  One in particular stuck out to me this week - "How to Have a Stress-Free Thanksgiving".  Full of helpful hints, this article made me realize a shift in attitude can make a huge difference!  I also realized these tips can be applied to any social event, not just holidays.  Check out the article here:  Surviving Family Holidays

Happy Thanksgiving!

Tuesday Tune

I really enjoy the Ocean's 11 trilogy and I especially enjoy the soundtracks.  The songs are upbeat and motivating and make me want to get up and move (or rob a casino?)!

This tune is from Ocean's 12 when Toulour (the "Night Fox") dances through the lasers.  Unfortunately this track did not make it on the soundtrack so I have to resort to YouTube to listen!  Enjoy!

It's Monday

It's Monday today and I'm trying to stay positive!  Monday mornings usually have a knack of reminding me why I'd rather be in a different job.  Today I'm choosing not to be bothered (or, trying to not be bothered).

Home Sweet Home

James and I have returned from our (fabulous) honeymoon and today is my first day back to work!  It is bittersweet to be home (and especially bitter to be back to the office) but after a week I will be readjusted.  It's always nice to be happy about returning home after such an adventure - I'm so happy (and lucky) to love my home life!

Posts to come (with pictures) of all our destinations!

Antique Hunting

I'm a sucker for antiques or anything unique.  James and I scored on some fun stuff during our stay in Guerneville and this shop was adorable.  I love the colorful finds!  Their pieces were so inspiring to me.

Wunderbar!

Seven years ago my family hosted an exchange student from Germany, Vanessa.  She quickly became another member of our family and we've stayed in contact after she moved back home.  We've been to visit her and her family in Heidelberg and she and her family have been back to the States to visit us.

We were stoked when we found out she and her boyfriend Lucas were coming to our wedding!  It was so special to have her with us on our special day and it really meant a lot to us.

Pomegranates

A few months ago I read the book Traveling With Pomegranates by Sue Monk Kidd and Ann Kidd Taylor.  It's a wonderful mother-daughter story documenting their relationship and their travels to Greece.  I found the snippets about the significance of pomegranates especially intriguing.  James and I are lucky enough to have a pomegranate tree in our backyard and I recently picked one to enjoy!

[PS - I am LOVING our new camera!]

Tuesday Tune

Today we are enjoying Croatia, where my grandfather's roots are.

This song has nothing to do with my heritage but it's fun nonetheless!

Game Play

We all like to play games!  In celebration of James' birthday we had some friends over and it turned into an impromptu game night, wahoo!

Also, we recently got a new camera (thanks Mom and Dad!) for our wedding so these are my practice shots!  I needed to get practice in before our honeymoon.

My favorite cocktail glass!

We heart rum.

James #27

Happy Birthday to [my husband] James!  It was October 20th but here are some fun shots from the night!  We had Chinese for dinner, opened gifts, enjoyed pumpkin cupcakes and watched the Giants win!

Boon

Every couple deserves (and needs) some down time together after their wedding.  Our "real" honeymoon was scheduled for a couple weeks after the wedding so we decided to go away for a quick honeymoon.  We stayed at a downtown Sacramento hotel with a view of the capitol - very awesome!  For the second leg we found an amazing hotel, Boon, in Guerneville, CA (about 20 miles east of the Bodega Bay area).

James and I enjoyed strolling around the town, lounging by the pool, watching movies and playing board games, taking a bike ride to the Russian River, and relaxing in each others' company.  Paris, the hotel's resident doggie, was so cute welcoming us back to the hotel every time we returned after an outing!  (She's in one of the pictures hanging out on the chaise lounge).

It's so great to be married!
