Tuesday Tune

I leave for India on Thursday (day after tomorrow!) so I thought we could get in the mood for travel with some songs from afar:

A Goodbye

Over the weekend my family said our goodbyes to our forest cabin - something that has been in my life since I was born!  It is a funny thing to bid adieu to a material object but this was a place filled with so many of my childhood memories.  Every summer was spent at this place and I have the landscape memorized by heart.  We went up over the summer to finish cleaning and I snapped some photos of my favorite things.

There won't be another time where we will be inside the cabin walls enjoying a family dinner, or sitting by the fire, or building stick forts.  Maybe we can't travel back in time but we can enjoy our memories and know our lives were better because of this little cabin!

Have a great Monday!

Tuesday Tune

Ah, finally - I have the latest Coldplay album in my hands!  I have loved Chris Martin's voice from the beginning.  So passionate, emotional, innovative, and always recognizable.  I am counting the days until I see them again live in concert.

Here are some of my favorites from their new album, Mylo Xyloto:

"...and so lying under those stormy skies, she'd say 'oh, ohohohoh, I know the sun must set to rise'..."

"...I only know I'm wrong, now I know it's gone, up in flames..."

"...and even if your aims are shadows, still we never gonna part..."

Making Memories

For our first wedding anniversary James and I re-visited the awesome hotel we stayed at after the wedding (our pre-honeymoon!).  Boon is so refreshing.  Guerneville is so low-key.  Long weekends are a delight.  Our first year of marriage was fantastic.  We've had so much fun and we bid adieu to newlywed status in style.

We started the weekend with a hike through the redwoods in the Armstrong Redwoods State Park.  The rest of the weekend we relaxed by the pool, rode bikes into town where we window shopped and ate a delicious (and organic) lunch, caught up on reading, and enjoyed each others' company.

We were lucky enough to enjoy a delicious anniversary cake - a mini version of our wedding cake!  I still cannot believe our wedding was one year ago.  We are still feeling the love and happiness from that day!

Oh, and I'm (still) obsessed with my wedding sandals!

More Boo

This year was the very first year I've welcomed trick-or-treaters to my home.  I moved out of a neighborhood to the country when I was five and grew up with only one neighbor.  Even though we've been in our house two years now, we have somehow missed both Halloweens!

I shot a few scenes of our home (check out the new paint job while you're at it) in all it's Halloween glory.  What is it about this holiday that makes me so giddy?

By the way - disregard the dying grass and bare flower beds in our front yard.  That is our next project.  I could probably start an entire blog on the front yard!

Tuesday Tune

I can't get this song by Anberlin out of my head - and the acoustic version is perfection.

"...tell me darling, where do we begin?  Was this over before?  Before it ever began?"
