A Coastal Wedding

The weekend before last James and I dressed up, packed into the car and headed to the coast for our friends' seaside wedding.  What a beautiful drive it was through the farm lands in the rolling green hills to the foggy cliffside where the ceremony took place.

I really enjoy visiting the ocean and we are so lucky to live only a couple hours away.  Enjoying the sea air and views reminds me to slow down and enjoy.  It also reminds me of how much I love the beach and I'd like to plan a fun day trip and a picnic before the summer ends!

The sun came out just in time for the reception!  Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Brown!

And a special Happy Birthday to my great friend Elham!

(Pops in the Park) Tuesday Tune

Welcome, summer!  You came last week but I was out sick so today is a belated celebration. The other weekend James and I brought Fox to his first summer concert in the park.  It was so refreshing to be outside in the evening enjoying the warm air and blue skies (especially after all the drab rainy weather we had)!

Summer days are great but summer nights are even better!  We are definitely looking forward to the movies in the park series starting in August.  And so is Fox!

And here's who we listened to!  Most of their songs were upbeat and lively but I loved this rendition of House of the Rising Sun.

We're Off!

"No journey carries one far unless, as it extends into the world around us, it goes an equal distance into the world within."  [Lillian Smith]

We are embarking on a mini roadtrip down to Southern California later this afternoon to visit my best friend!  It's been awhile since James and I had a roadtrip so I'm looking forward to spending the time with him.

Happy Friday!

Summer Cravings

summertime.

DAY Birger et Mikkelsen racerback dress, Burberry caftan top, Zimmermann swimwear, Dorothy Perkins wide leg pants, Mar Y Sol stripe handbag, CC SKYE bangles jewelry, Ray-Ban mirrored sunglasses, ASOS oversized straw hat.

I'm totally craving all these fabulous items!  I probably have variations of these outfits in my closet already but it's fun to daydream about upgrades!  I'm dying to find a great one-piece bathing suit and I've always wanted some official Ray Ban aviators!  These pieces would look great on any vacation, next to any pool/beach, or even hanging out at home.

We are heading down to Los Angeles this weekend to visit my best friend and these pieces would be the perfect things to pack!

Be Back Soon

Ahh, I've been missing my blog.  I've been sick AND our internet has been down since the beginning of the week.  I awoke Monday morning with a horribly sore throat and yesterday I forced myself to stay in bed all day.  Needless to say I slept most of the day... Fox kept me company.  It's amazing how dogs can sense when you're unwell.  He stayed with me all day!

I'm beginning to feel better and hopefully our network issues are resolved.

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day!  To my one and only, hardworking, loyal, hilarious Dad!  Here are some of my favorite memories from my wedding.

Keep Moving, Moving, Moving!

"The great thing in this world is not so much where you stand, as in what direction you are moving.[Oliver Wendell Holmes]

I just love these shots from Egypt - everyone in motion!

James and I are heading to the coast tomorrow for a friend's wedding and then spending Sunday with our dads, starting with breakfast in the Bay Area and ending the day with a barbeque back in town.  I hope everyone enjoys this weekend!

Happy Friday!

Go Gridsters! (Take Two)

Over the weekend the Gridsters were back in action!  We gathered in midtown for the second (AWESOME) scavenger hunt created by the brilliant Mastermind Hunts.  Our team put our thinking caps on, solved the tricky brain teasers which led us to different locations around midtown's "grid" and we were ONE question away from winning 3rd place!  Which is a huge improvement from last year!

Next year the competition better watch out because I have a feeling Gridsters are going to take first place!

Gooooo Gridsters!

(Soggy) Doggy Dash

This year James, my sister, and I participated in the Doggy Dash - a walk benefitting the SPCA.    We brought Piper and Fox and got soaked by the rain!  The event has since been renamed the "Soggy Dash".

Even though it rained we still dashed and it was so much fun to see all the adorable dogs of all different breeds and sizes!

We can't wait until next year's event!

Tuesday Tune

Heartless had me hooked from the very first time I heard it.  I can't say I'm a Kanye West fan but there is just something about this song!  Oh, and then add to the mix my weakness - covers.  These covers are delicious and amazing and probably better than the original.  I heard Dia Frampton (from the new show The Voice) sing this last week and her interpretation inspired today's Tuesday Tune.  And I can't get enough of the sounds of William Fitzsimmons.  And The Fray?  Yeah, they hold a soft spot in my heart.

One of these days I'm going to (finally) put together a "D's Favorites" mix - I know exactly what those 15 or so songs would be - the ones that I've had on repeat for YEARS, the ones that make an appearance on every cd I make, the ones that will never in a million years get old.  Some of you could probably guess a few of the tracks... Heartless is one of them.

And for good measure...

Meet Fox

Three weeks ago James and I adopted a fine little fellow we've named Fox!  He is a happy, scruffy, loving dog who fits into our lives perfectly.  We're all getting along famously and we are so happy to add him to our family!

He is always on the move so for now, these are the best shots I have of the little rascal!
