Farmer's Market Outing

Our neighborhood Farmer's Market started up a few weeks ago and last week James and I rode our bikes over to the park and scored on some great fruits and vegetables!  I was totally impressed by one display in particular - the colors of the vegetables were SO vivid you could almost taste their flavors just by looking!

I couldn't resist snapping a few pics.  (Sorry, some are blurry, I only had my phone!)

We will definitely be frequenting this market for all our vegetables and fruit!

Opa!

Over the weekend, James and I hosted a barbecue with my friends from work to celebrate (some more) the end of our busy season!  The theme was "GREEK" and we went all out!  (One of our favorite go-to lunch spots is a local Greek eatery that is to die for so why not recreate the deliciousness at home?).

We had chicken and onion kebobs that marinated in yogurt, olive oil, rosemary and lemon juice overnight, spinach and feta spanakopita, a Greek salad complete with feta, olives, onions, tomatoes, and cucumber, delicious tzatziki, and of course there was plenty of hummus and pita bread and wine!  We even had homemade baklava for dessert.  Everything was FANTASTIC!

I need to be better about snapping pictures because I realized later I missed out on a few!  Too many glasses of wine for me!

The boys topped off the night playing with fire in our new chimenea we picked up on our getaway to the coast.  Overall it was a great night with great friends and a perfect way to celebrate!

Burgers, Gifts, and Sun

I had one of the best birthdays that I've had in a long time!  It was a simple, relaxing afternoon at home full of playing with the dogs, enjoying the sunny weather in the backyard on our new chaise lounge, sipping a cocktail, and smelling the barbeque grill our basil and onion infused burgers.

We enjoyed burgers with feta on toasted sourdough buns and my parents brought over the world famous macaroni salad and a lemon cooler birthday cake.  Everything was so delicious!

And the wonderful gifts!  I had the best birthday weekend a girl could ask for and I love my friends and family so much - everyone deserves a weekend like this once in awhile!

Bombay Birthday

My birthday celebration recap continues!  I was absolutely surprised when my best friend told me she and her boyfriend were coming up from Los Angeles for the weekend and it totally made my weekend that much more special!

My lovely friends and family all met up downtown and we enjoyed a delicious meal at Bombay Bar and Grill.  We were stuffed!

After dinner we strolled the streets and enjoyed the Second Saturday festivities and ended the night with a few cocktails back at our friend's apartment.

I had a blast!

(Btw - totally loving the Hipstamatic app!)

Ooh La La!

I love watching the Oscars!  Yesterday I selfishly endulged in some TV time (just for me!) while flipping through magazines and painting my nails as I watched the gorgeous stars walk the red carpet.  James and I ate appetizers for dinner and sipped on crisp iced green tea - simple and healthy(ish).  This year we saw every film nominated for best picture!  Ok, ok, all except for one - so the show this year was that much more enjoyable.  I absolutely adored The King's Speech (and Colin Firth is a favorite of mine) so it was fabulous watching them win!  Seriously, how much cuter could he get?!

My favorite dresses of the evening were on Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Hudson, Sandra Bullock, and Anne Hathaway's opening dress.  Gorgeous!  Did you have any favorites?

Home Cooked

What is your favorite simple dinner dish?

I can't claim this one as my own creation but that doesn't make it any less delicious!  Hummus melts.  Yeah, like a tuna melt but with hummus.

I usually tweak the ingredients a tad but my standby combination is:  garlic naan bread, Tribe forty spices hummus, white onion slices, mozzarella cheese, green onions, freshly ground pepper, and a dash of paprika to top it off.  Broil for about 10 minutes and dinner is served!

I like mine a little extra crispy!  And then on to dessert...

Friends & Food

Snacks, drinks, and laughs = just what the doctor ordered.  Tax season wears us thin but after a few drinks, snacks, and especially laughs, I find myself right back where I need to be.

What a wonderful Friday.
