Hawaii - Pali Lookout & UH
I have the serious case of beach withdrawals today! If I happened to find myself at the airport you'd see me at the Hawaiian Airlines counter buying a one-way ticket. Alooooha!
For two days J and I rented a Jeep and toured the island - I wanted to show J all the places I've been - especially the UH campus! It was so awesome and surreal to be back, it was as if time stood still and I'd only been there the week before... funny how that happens, right?
Our day started at the Pali lookout - a famous (tourist) spot with views of the windward side of the island (looking towards some of my favorite beaches, Kailua and Lanikai - see later posts!). This spot has high winds but the view is worth it!
A short drive away (it's an island, yeah!?) is the University of Hawaii, Manoa campus where I spent a summer and I was so excited to show J! I was there seven years ago... time really flies! I love this campus and as we walked we were both scheming of ways to return as students. Who needs real life, anyway?
This is Dean Hall where I had my classes.
The stadium with Waikiki in the background - not a bad location, eh?

A Goodbye

Over the weekend my family said our goodbyes to our forest cabin - something that has been in my life since I was born! It is a funny thing to bid adieu to a material object but this was a place filled with so many of my childhood memories. Every summer was spent at this place and I have the landscape memorized by heart. We went up over the summer to finish cleaning and I snapped some photos of my favorite things. There won't be another time where we will be inside the cabin walls enjoying a family dinner, or sitting by the fire, or building stick forts. Maybe we can't travel back in time but we can enjoy our memories and know our lives were better because of this little cabin!
Have a great Monday!

Tuesday Tune
So, have you heard of Rachael Yamagata? Her album Happenstance has a special place in my heart, it takes me back to a sweet place. She has a smooth, warm voice and her sound is charming and calming. Here are some of my favorites, enjoy!
"If I could take you away, pretend I was queen...Would you think I'm unreal, 'cause everybody's got their way I should feel..."
"...and you can tell the world what you want them to hear, I've got nothing left to lose, my dear..."
"...and I wish you the best, but I could do without it, and I will because you've worn me down..."
"...and I had read all of this in his eyes, even before he said so..."
So, what do you think?
