Tuesday Tune

Have you listened to Norah Jones' most recent album?  I LOVE it.  Loved her first album and then I stopped paying attention until now.  Her "new" sound is definitely more me and I'm really enjoying hearing her on repeat!

Happy Tuesday!  I've rounded up some new favorites of mine - I'm not sure how they've slipped through the cracks but I recently heard them and want to share with you.

For the couple days we had a car in Hawaii this song kept popping up on the local radio station (Island 98.5, my favorite!).  The second song is one that's been on repeat lately, very upbeat.  Have a great Tuesday (is it too early to countdown to the weekend?)!

Aloha & Tuesday Tune

Friends, J and I are on a plane right now (or maybe we are on the beach?) heading for Oahu, Hawaii for a glorious 10 days!  So, aloha!  And see you all on the 14th!

Tuesday Tune (and a CELEBRATION)!

TAX.  SEASON.  IS.  OVER.  And that means I can get back to my normal life, my normal routine, and I can do it all while being AWAKE and not in some zombie haze.  So without further ado, here is one of my favorite songs of all time because 1) it is in my favorite movie of all time and 2) whenever I hear it all I want to do is jump up and dance!

So even if you don't know what it's like to work a tax season, please join me in my celebration (just close your eyes and pretend you're six years old on Christmas morning and also you're 18, just finished your finals and you have the whole summer vacation ahead of you and you'll know what I feel like)!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is my birthday!  Alas, I am holed up at the office (7 more working days of tax season...) but I celebrated over the weekend by getting my nails done, enjoying a delicious Indian dinner with friends (which is exactly what I did last year!) and then dancing the night away.  I was so lucky to have my best friend in town for a second year in a row (I'm so spoiled now) and it really made everything extra special.  

 Tonight J and I are going to a nice dinner and then I hope to stay awake long enough to relax at home!  These looooooong, looooooong work weeks + workouts + sleepless nights have officially caught up to me and you can tell by my blog.  I hope to be back soon, friends.  I don't like that work consumes my life and leaves me with little energy to do much else.

Four weeks from today J and I will be on Waikiki beach.  Well, my mind is already there... my body needs to hop a flight in a month to catch up with it!  I may not return - I would make an excellent beach bum (believe me, I've tried it once before and it was a total success).  Let's daydream of the islands...

Tuesday Tune & Happy Spring

Happy Spring!  Even though it may still feel like Winter... which only makes me dream of Summer!  In six short weeks J and I will be laying on the beaches of Hawaii - a decadent post tax season escape for some much needed rejuvenation!  My family was lucky enough to take vacations there when I was younger and this year marks seven years since I studied at the University of Hawaii (at Manoa) for the summer.  It was the best experience (on the beach every day!) and I even met friends from around the world.  I can't wait to return!

And so today I'd like to share a song that brings me back to the islands, and some snapshots (albeit blurry ones) from my summer away.  And check out my short hair - if you can believe it, that's after it had grown out!

My sister came to visit me while I was away, not a bad place to visit family, eh?

Tuesday tune is back with two unrelated but equally fun songs that simply make me happy.  'Lights' makes me want to get up and dance around the house and I know it's not exactly new but it's been on repeat.  Oh, and Coldplay.  Chris Martin can do no wrong in my book!

Something tells me I'm a bit behind the times on discovering this song but it's better late than never.  I'm pretty sure I listened to it at least 15 times yesterday.  LOVE.

Florence Welch has a stunning voice and unique sound and she was quick to set up shop on my top 5 favorites list.  What can I say about her two albums (Lungs and Ceremonials) that hasn't already been said except I think they're simply awesome?!  My sister and I have tickets to her next show in our neck of the woods.  (It's post tax season and I couldn't have imagined a better way to celebrate)!

These tunes have been on my repeat lately (although - in my opinion - there isn't one bad song on the whole album) and I'd love to share them with you if you haven't already heard.  You're welcome! :)

I rediscovered this song - thanks to Lisa! - who reminded me of the artist Broken Bells.  I realized I never knew who the artist was.  Awesome!

I need some positive music when I'm working out - especially when I'm doing my cardio!  Something that keeps up with my pace and keeps me positive.  This song has been on my repeat list and it doesn't hurt that it reminds me of good times dancing with friends!

Oh, and I simply love his new single.  Have you heard it yet?  I'm so looking forward to his future tour because I will be there front row center.  He is so inspiring - and his music makes me feel so very happy, positive, thoughtful, excited, giddy, introspective... he is so creative!  And I especially connect with this song.  Thank you, Jason!

So, I've found another love to add to my short list of musical artist soulmates - Thievery Corporation.  I have continued to stumble across this group (and I even featured them in early 2011!).  I would hear songs I loved on different iTunes radio stations, Pandora... etc. and would later realize they were all the same band.  I'm destined to love this group!  One of their cds, The Richest Man in Babylon, was waiting for me under the Christmas tree this year and I'm already looking forward to completing my collection.  I LOVE this album!  This music falls into my category of "perfect".  (Can you guess who else is there?)

I was listening to it last night and I was conjuring images of myself as a yoga teacher playing this cd during class.... or perhaps a cafe owner... or maybe relaxing at the beach... or... or...
