Ooh La La!
I love watching the Oscars! Yesterday I selfishly endulged in some TV time (just for me!) while flipping through magazines and painting my nails as I watched the gorgeous stars walk the red carpet. James and I ate appetizers for dinner and sipped on crisp iced green tea - simple and healthy(ish). This year we saw every film nominated for best picture! Ok, ok, all except for one - so the show this year was that much more enjoyable. I absolutely adored The King's Speech (and Colin Firth is a favorite of mine) so it was fabulous watching them win! Seriously, how much cuter could he get?!
My favorite dresses of the evening were on Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Hudson, Sandra Bullock, and Anne Hathaway's opening dress. Gorgeous! Did you have any favorites?

River Walk
The other weekend James and I took Piper on a walk along the river. The sun was shining and we all had so much fun being outside in the fresh air. James and I really enjoy spending time outside and we even got some exercise!
Piper even ran into the water! And she usually avoids it like the plague...
It was such a beautiful day! What are your weekend plans?
Happy Friday!

Marriage
[Here's an oldie but goodie photo of our family from a couple years ago.]
"A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person."

Dubrovnik, Croatia [Honeymoon Part Eight]
Croatia! It was amazing to see the place where half of my father's family came from. I wish my family could have experienced it with me but I'm hopeful we can make a return trip. The weather was dark and rainy but it only added to the mystique of the walled city of Dubrovnik. The water was a bright blue against the grey sky and the wind was whipping my scarf, we had to duck into a cafe for coffee and tea during a downpour. We strolled through the old city, saw a fruit market and walked up the narrow stairways passing many doorways and colorful cats. I also bought some beautiful handmade earrings from a man who knew a village near Split where members of my family live! I can't wait to return!
As we were leaving port, the wind was so strong we weren't allowed on deck. I was able to snap a few photos and feel the winds before going inside. The waves were gorgeous against the dark green coast.

Tuesday Tune (...and Game Night!)
This past weekend James and I hopped over to our friends' house and enjoyed a night of gourmet pizza, homemade lemon drops, games, music, Jack the cat, and plenty of laughter!
This song popped up on the playlist and I knew I recognized the artist, Habib Koite who has a song on one of my favorite cds (Putumayo's Acoustic Africa). Check it out:
And I can't forget Jack!

The Bread Store
Yesterday my best friend and I went to one of our favorite lunch destinations The Bread Store. I'm such a fiend for sandwiches of any kind and The Bread Store gets it right every time - heaven! I ordered my standby, turkey with provolone, and Michelle had the veggie with swiss.
We've been visiting this place for years and we look forward to going each time Michelle visits. Until next time, enjoy these tasty pictures!

Another Anniversary
One year ago today James and I were engaged in San Francisco! It was such a fabulous weekend and what I'll treasure most is the memory of knowing that for that brief moment in time, we were the only two people who knew the excited news!
It was also one of the greatest joys to come home and share the news with my family - and then the phone calls to the bridesmaids followed! It's been one of the happiest, greatest, toughest, years but we're still here and happier than ever.

Meditations
Phew. It's Friday and tonight James and I are going to my yoga studio for a guided meditation class. I am very much looking forward to the time on my mat where I can be present and focus on myself and in the meantime relax and refresh before a busy (and fun-filled) weekend with friends.
This picture of the Pitons from St. Lucia (April 2009) is so peaceful and clean. If only I could unroll my mat in this very place and have this view to take in and this air to breathe. I will imagine it tonight!
What are your weekend plans?
Happy Friday and a very happy weekend to you!

Mr. Zuckerberg
Facebook is everywhere whether we like it or not! (I like it).
I read the following Time magazine article a few weeks ago - I'm behind the "times" (haha). There has been a lot of hype about the film "The Social Network" and I really enjoyed it and immediately wanted to know more about the real Mark Zuckerberg. Where have I been?
I may not be a computer genius like Zuckerberg, and I also don't know him personally, but I find him to be an inspiration. And he's only a couple years older than me.
Whether or not you agree with everything Facebook is, this article will shed some light on the website, it's founder, and the future. I found it extremely intriguing! As I was reading I kept feeling the urge to read passages aloud to James, muttering "wow" every few seconds. The statistics are astonishing! There are so many interesting points that I would end up copying almost the entire article here.
Read all about Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook here: Time Magazine's Person of the Year 2010.
What do you think? Love it or hate it?

Alexandria, Egpyt [Honeymoon Part Seven]
Alexandria was a breath of fresh air - literally! The crisp sea breeze swept through the city as we explored the Library of Alexandria (heaven), roman ruins in the middle of the city (discovered on accident at a construction site), zoomed through the city streets, enjoyed the views at Qaitbay Fort, and shopped at the market. The sky was so blue, the buildings so white, and the sun so warm - it was a perfect, relaxing, day!
